Glera (Prosecco)

Prosecco is made from Glera, a local grape variety (probably originating from the ancient roman “Pucinum”) whose presence in the area is proved since the early 16th century.

It is a vigorous, hardy species of vine that produces large bunches of grapes and has distinctive flavour characteristics and varietal aromas. The berries have a greenish-yellow colour and turn to a rich yellow-gold as they ripen. The skin is fairly robust and, once broken, reveals a juicy pulp with a lightly acidic taste.

Its freshness, delicacy and distinctive aromatic qualities make Glera particularly suitable for the production of fragrant sparkling wines, designed to be enjoyed young in a broad range of occasions, from an aperitif with friends to an elegant convivial meeting.
